Chito Remote Certification

Great at the work isn’t ready for the work

Every professional on this register is certified on remote practice before an employer ever meets them. Three modules, four hours, and a twenty-five question examination on judgement rather than trivia.

A candidate being taken through the remote certification

What this certifies, exactly - and what it does not. Chito certifies one thing: that an already-qualified professional is ready to work remotely. It does not certify their trade, and it does not certify their tools. We do not make a person an accountant, a developer or a marketer, and we do not vouch that they have mastered any particular software - their competence in their own field is a separate gate, checked before they ever reach this one. What we put our name to is the remote-working standard, and that they will deliver on it.

If you are an employer

You are not receiving a raw hire. Every candidate you meet through Chito has already been taken through this course and examined on it, so the induction you would normally carry - communication standards, task systems, reporting rhythm, handovers, security habits - has been carried before you arrived.

You are not charged for it, and it is not an add-on you can decline. It is simply part of what it means to be listed.

If you are a candidate

Before you are put in front of any employer on this platform, you are trained to the minimum standard of working remotely, so that nothing has to be repeated once you are placed and nothing costs you the engagement in the first fortnight.

The course is a small fee, and that is the whole of it. It is the only thing you are ever charged on Chito, and it is not charged until you have cleared the verification call. The full cost schedule →

Communicate. Operate. Deliver.

Three modules, each answering one question an employer will otherwise have to find out the hard way.

A qualified professional taken through the remote-practice certification and stamped ready

Communicate

60 minutes

Can this person communicate professionally and create trust at a distance?

In remote work communication is not an accessory to the work, it is part of the work, because nobody can see progress happening. This module installs the standard: how you write to a client, how you close a loop, and how you deliver bad news before it becomes a failure.

What it covers
  • Professional written register, and the distance between it and social speech
  • Closing the loop - acknowledge, restate, confirm the deadline, report completion
  • Meetings: prepared, on time, and followed up with decisions and owners
  • Disagreement, escalation and saying no with a reason and an alternative
  • Cross-cultural and time-zone communication, with explicit dates and zones
  • AI-assisted communication, and why unverified output never goes out under your name

Operate

90 minutes

Can this person function inside the systems and rhythms of a distributed team?

Tools change from employer to employer, so this module demonstrates representative tools and certifies the practice underneath them. A professional who understands the operating logic adapts to a new stack in days. One who memorised an application does not.

What it covers
  • The Chito Remote Operating System, applied to real requests
  • Asynchronous work - messages that can be acted on without a meeting
  • Task and project systems: owner, due date, status, dependency, priority
  • Documentation, file discipline and decisions captured where others can find them
  • Documents, spreadsheets, presentations and cloud collaboration
  • Files, permissions and least-necessary access
  • AI in professional work - acceleration, verification and what never goes into it
  • Outcome-based work: knowing what done means before beginning

Deliver

90 minutes

Can this person own an outcome and deliver dependably without physical supervision?

The part that has nothing to do with any tool or trade, and everything to do with whether somebody can be trusted with an outcome from six thousand miles away. This is the module that decides whether a candidate is ready for any remote environment, not a familiar one.

What it covers
  • Ownership - the difference between sending a message and solving the problem
  • Time, availability and declared overlap windows honoured honestly
  • Deadline management, interim checkpoints and raising risk before the date
  • Quality, acceptance criteria and knowing when to escalate
  • Security, confidentiality and data handling on employer-approved systems
  • Failure and recovery - owning a mistake quickly and containing it
  • Handover and continuity, so absence is survivable

Read the first letter of each. C, O, D. In business, COD means cash on delivery - you pay when it arrives, because it always arrives. That is the promise a Chito Verified professional is trained to keep. Not that they know your trade - you hired them for that already - but that they will deliver it remotely, dependably, without anybody standing over them. Communicate, Operate, Deliver: the Chito Remote Operating System, and more, drilled until delivery is the default. You are hiring COD.

The method

The Chito Remote Operating System

One sequence, taught in module two and examined throughout. It is what a Chito Verified professional runs on every piece of work that reaches them, whatever the tools in front of them and whoever the employer is.

A single work request moving cleanly from brief through to hand-over
1

Receive

Read the request and identify the intended outcome, not just the task.

2

Confirm

Acknowledge ownership, clear the ambiguity, confirm the deadline and the time zone.

3

Plan

Break the outcome into tasks, dependencies and checkpoints.

4

Work

Execute inside the employer's approved tools and security rules.

5

Report

Make progress, blockers and changes visible before anybody asks.

6

Hand over

Deliver cleanly, document what matters, state the next action.

A manager who has hired a Chito professional can ask where a piece of work sits and get the same shape of answer every time. That predictability is the operating definition of remote trust.

Prove it

Twenty-five scenario questions at the close. Easy to read and hard to answer well without sound judgement - the situations that actually cost people remote roles in the first month, not definitions of what things are called.

The examination passed and the dated readiness mark recorded on the listing

What it examines

  • Communication and digital trust
  • Remote operating discipline and asynchronous work
  • Ownership, deadlines and delivery
  • Security, confidentiality and AI judgement

Drawn from a larger rotating bank, so the paper cannot be memorised and passed around.

The standard

  • Pass mark 80 per cent - twenty correct out of twenty-five
  • The first resit is free
  • Further resits carry a P100 administration fee and a twenty-four hour wait
  • Failing does not invalidate the competence screen or the Uptime Verification

Delivery. Self-paced online, in short lessons built around decisions rather than lectures - principle, example, failure example, exercise, one check. Coordinator support is available and live attendance is never a dependency.

Role Readiness Guides

Short, non-examined guides for each of the four disciplines. They orient a professional to the remote context of their own field without attempting to teach the field, which is exactly the line this certification does not cross.

The four disciplines set out, each oriented to its own remote context

Accounting

Cloud ledgers, document collection, access control, audit trails, remote month-end and approvals.

Technology

Issue tracking, repositories, code review, incident communication, handovers and secure access.

Operations

Workflow systems, SOPs, escalation, vendor coordination, dashboards and shift handovers.

Sales and Marketing

CRM hygiene, outreach records, campaign approvals, client communication, scheduling and attribution.

Three gates, one status

Gate one

Competence

Documented qualification, verifiable work history and a structured conversation on the candidate's own discipline. Checked before anything else.

Gate two

Uptime

Machine, power, lines and room, demonstrated live to a named coordinator and stamped with the date. Read the standard →

Gate three

Remote readiness

This certification, examined and passed. The part nobody was ever taught, and the part that ends engagements early.

Clear all three and the listing carries Chito Verified. Clear two and it does not go on the register at all.
