Terms of use
Including the introducer-only limitation, which is the most important clause here and is written first rather than buried. Last updated .
1. The introducer-only limitation
Chito introduces. It is not a party to anything that follows. Specifically, and without qualification anywhere else in these terms, Chito:
- does not employ, engage or contract any candidate listed on this platform, in any jurisdiction, under any arrangement
- is not an employer of record, a professional employer organisation, a staffing agency or a labour broker
- does not process payroll, withhold or remit tax, administer benefits or handle any cross-border employment compliance
- does not hold, transmit, convert or escrow funds of any kind, other than receiving the introduction fee for its own account
- does not teach or certify professional competence in any candidate's underlying occupation, and issues no occupational qualification, accreditation or licence of any kind. Chito does assess professional competence as a condition of entry, verify remote working infrastructure, deliver the Chito Remote Certification, assess remote-working readiness and certify successful completion of that readiness standard. In plain terms: Chito does not certify that a person is an accountant. It certifies that an already-qualified accountant has demonstrated the Chito remote-working standard
- does not track time, log keystrokes, capture screens or monitor any person's work
- is not a party to, guarantor of, or agent for the agreement between an employer and a candidate
The employer and the candidate contract directly with each other, on their own terms, and are each solely responsible for the lawfulness of that arrangement in their own jurisdictions - including worker classification, tax, immigration and any applicable labour law.
2. What the platform is
Chito publishes pseudonymous listings of candidates who have completed a verification call, publishes standing role requirements from employers, and opens an introduction between the two when an employer pays the introduction fee. That is the whole service.
3. The Uptime Badge, and its limits
The Uptime Badge records that a Chito coordinator observed the items set out in the published standard on a live call on the stated date, and that the candidate had not failed a spot check at that time. It is a record of an observation on a date. It is not:
- a warranty of future uptime, connectivity or availability
- a guarantee of the candidate's competence, honesty, conduct or fitness for your role
- a background check, a criminal record check, a credit check or a reference check
- verification of the authenticity of any qualification certificate
The badge expires ninety days from its date. Employers remain responsible for their own interviewing, reference checking and due diligence.
4. The Chito Remote Certification, and its limits
The Chito Remote Certification is a readiness standard covering professional communication, remote operating discipline and dependable delivery at a distance. It is assessed by examination and recorded against the candidate's reference. It is not an occupational qualification, is not accredited by any authority, and does not certify that a candidate is competent in their own trade.
The certification is charged to the candidate as a small fee, payable only after the verification call has been passed and disclosed in full before it is charged. The introduction fee charged to an employer is quoted separately, in the employer’s own terms. The certification is never charged to an employer and cannot be declined by one. The full candidate cost schedule is published on the apply page, and no other charge is made to a candidate at any stage, including any share of earnings.
5. The introduction fee
The fee is a once-off charge to the employer for an introduction to a specific candidate, quoted per candidate before anything is charged, as set out on the employers page. It is payable before identity is released. It is not a placement fee, not a retainer, not a share of salary, and it confers no exclusivity and no continuing right over the candidate.
6. The replacement guarantee
Where an introduction fails because the candidate is unreachable within three business days of the channel being opened, is no longer available, or materially misrepresented the infrastructure recorded against their badge, the employer is entitled to one further introduction at no charge, matched to the same requirement. The guarantee is a replacement, not a refund, and it does not apply where the parties simply did not agree terms, where the employer changed the role, or where the employer withdrew.
7. Priority sourcing
A priority sourcing mandate buys a coordinator's effort against a stated requirement for fourteen days. It is not a guarantee of a placement or of any particular candidate. Where nothing verified is presented within fourteen days the mandate carries forward as credit; it is not refunded and it does not expire.
8. What is expected of a candidate
- Every statement about equipment, connections, qualifications and experience must be true, and will be demonstrated live and re-checked without warning
- Declared time zone overlap must be honest. Overstating it ends the listing
- You must answer the unannounced spot check within your own declared window
- Once introduced, you deal with the employer directly and in good faith
- Misrepresentation of infrastructure ends the listing permanently
9. What is expected of an employer
- You represent a real business and are authorised to hire for it
- You will not use the register, or an introduction, to compile or resell candidate data
- You will not attempt to identify a pseudonymous candidate outside the introduction process
- Scraping, bulk extraction and automated access are prohibited
- You are responsible for classifying, contracting and paying the candidate lawfully
10. Anonymity
Candidate identity is deliberately withheld until a paid introduction. Any attempt to circumvent that - by scraping, by cross-referencing, or by approaching a candidate identified through the register outside the introduction - is a breach of these terms and ends access.
11. Accuracy of listings
Listings are built from what candidates and employers state and what a coordinator observed. Chito takes reasonable care but does not warrant that any listing is complete, current or free of error. A listing is removed when the badge lapses or the candidate is placed.
12. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Chito and Cabanga Platforms are not liable for any loss arising from an engagement between an employer and a candidate, from the performance or conduct of either party, from any decision made in reliance on a listing or a badge, or from any interruption to a candidate's power or connectivity. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the introduction fee paid for the introduction in question.
13. Suspension
Chito may remove a listing, decline an application, refuse an introduction or end access at its discretion, with particular regard to any misrepresentation of infrastructure or identity by either side.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Botswana, and the courts of Botswana have jurisdiction.
15. Changes
Material changes are shown on this page with a new date. Continued use after that date is acceptance.
Nothing on this site is legal, tax or immigration advice. Worker classification and cross-border employment obligations differ by jurisdiction and are the responsibility of the contracting parties.
