The Uptime Standard
Published in full, because a standard nobody can read is not a standard
This is the whole product. A professional carries the Uptime Badge only while every line below is true and a named Chito coordinator has checked it. If this is soft, Chito has nothing to sell.
This is a trade standard, not a regional one. One connection with no backup is a weak setup in Lisbon, in Manila and in Ohio, and a machine that cannot hold a clean client call is a weak setup everywhere. Every serious operation runs to a specification. The difference here is that ours is written down, checked by a named person on a live call, dated, and published so you can measure it against anybody else's.
What is checked
Every item is demonstrated live on a call. Nothing is accepted on a form, and nothing submitted in advance counts on its own.
Laptop or desktop, Intel i5, Ryzen 5, Apple M-series or better. Eight gigabytes of RAM minimum. Working camera, working microphone, and a headset rather than laptop speakers.
How it is provedPhotographs of the machine and its system information panel, plus a live view on the call.
A minimum 2kVA inverter or solar system that carries the full working setup for at least four continuous hours, or verified building-level backup with the same effect.
How it is provedPhotographs of the unit and its rating plate, and a live demonstration of the setup running off backup with the mains switched off.
Fixed fibre or LTE holding ten megabits down and five up, sustained rather than peak.
How it is provedTimed speed tests taken during the call. Screenshots sent in advance are not accepted.
A second, independent connection on a different carrier, tested working. One line on one carrier is a single point of failure, and it is the one that ends engagements.
How it is provedA speed test on the backup while the primary is switched off, on the same call.
An enclosed, quiet, adequately lit space suitable for a client video call. Not a shared room, not a corridor, not a phone in a car.
How it is provedA camera sweep of the room on the call.
A declared working window and an honest statement of which time zones it genuinely overlaps. Overstating this is the fastest way off the register.
How it is provedStated at intake, recorded on the listing, and tested at the spot check.
Professional written and spoken English, at the level the work actually needs.
How it is provedAssessed on the call and from the written intake, by a person, in conversation.
One unannounced live check at a random time inside the first thirty days, within the candidate's own declared working window.
How it is provedA coordinator calls. No answer inside the declared window suspends the badge.
Lapse and renewal
The badge expires
- Ninety days after the verification date. It is not a permanent award.
- A lapsed badge removes the candidate from the public register at the next sync. They do not appear as unverified. They do not appear at all.
- Renewal repeats the speed tests and the backup demonstration on a fresh call. Photographs are not retaken unless the equipment has changed.
- A candidate placed through Chito moves to placed and comes off the register. They do not renew while placed.
Suspension
- One failed spot check suspends the badge pending an explanation.
- Two suspend it for ninety days.
- An employer claim under the replacement guarantee is treated as a report on the standard and investigated as one.
- Infrastructure found to have been misrepresented ends the listing. There is no second version of that conversation.
Both sides are checked
A register of unverified employers wastes candidates' time and exposes them to fraud, and in a labour context that exposure is materially worse than in goods. So the same two gates apply to whoever is posting a role.
Gate one - the code
A form submission saves nothing anywhere. The person is sent a six-digit code and must send it back. Passing that step is the only thing that writes the record. An entry that fails it never reaches the sheet at all, not even as an unconfirmed row.
Gate two - a person
Passing gate one proves somebody is real. It does not prove they are qualified, and on the employer side it does not prove they are a genuine business. A coordinator reviews every record and records the judgement. Only approved records go live.
Why this is hard to copy
A competitor can copy the page, the palette and the pricing in a weekend. What cannot be copied in a weekend is two hundred candidates who have each sat through a forty minute verification call and a random spot check, and a coordinator who has done enough of them to know what a rehearsed answer sounds like.
The moat is the accumulated labour of checking, and it deepens every month it runs.
